National Dialogue Summit 2026
Sept. 10, 2026
As part of the National Dialogue Summit on Suicide Prevention 2026, the Suicide Prevention Training and “Reporting to Protect” session brought together participants from diverse backgrounds to deepen their understanding of suicide prevention, strengthen practical response skills, and reflect on the importance of responsible communication.
The Suicide Prevention Training focused on building knowledge and practical skills to better recognize suicide-related concerns and respond appropriately. Participants explored the importance of noticing signs of distress, responding with empathy and care, connecting individuals with appropriate professional support, and understanding the role of timely intervention in suicide prevention. The session provided an opportunity for participants to learn, ask questions, share reflections, and strengthen their confidence in responding to situations that may require immediate attention and support.
Alongside the training, the “Reporting to Protect” session created an important space to discuss the role of responsible reporting and communication in suicide prevention. The discussion encouraged participants to consider how suicide-related information can be communicated with sensitivity, accuracy, and responsibility. It highlighted the importance of prevention-focused communication that promotes understanding and help-seeking while being mindful of potential harm.
Together, these sessions emphasized that suicide prevention is not limited to one profession or one sector. It requires informed individuals, responsible communication, supportive communities, and collaboration among different stakeholders. Building the capacity to recognize distress, respond appropriately, connect people to help, and communicate responsibly can contribute to stronger systems of support.
We extend our heartfelt appreciation to all the facilitators, resource persons, and participants who contributed their time, knowledge, questions, experiences, and perspectives. Your active participation helped make these sessions meaningful and strengthened the collective learning that the summit sought to create.
We also express our sincere gratitude to Grande International Hospital, our Mental Health Supporting Sponsor – Aanandit Hridaya, Media Supporting Sponsor – Halkara Khabar, and Community Supporting Partners – Bright Minds, Nura, Medhavi & Street To Home for their valuable support and partnership. Your contribution helped create a platform for learning, dialogue, connection, and collective action around suicide prevention and mental health in Nepal.
Together, we continue to create spaces where people can learn to recognize distress, respond with compassion, communicate responsibly, and connect others to the support they need.
