Mental Health Awareness 𝟐𝟎𝟖𝟑, Gulmi

July 8, 2026

The National Solution and Research Centre (NSRC) successfully conducted a Teacher Training Session on Suicide Prevention and Mental Wellbeing at श्री आत्मबोध माध्यमिक विद्यालय, गुल्मी. The session brought teachers together with a shared goal of strengthening their understanding of mental health and exploring how they can play a meaningful role in supporting students through emotional and psychological challenges.

The training focused on helping teachers better understand suicide prevention, early signs of emotional distress, and the importance of promoting mental wellbeing among students. Teachers explored how changes in a student’s behaviour, emotions, or interactions can sometimes indicate that they may be struggling and may need additional attention, understanding, or support.

Beyond awareness, the session emphasized the importance of responding with compassion, patience, and sensitivity. Teachers were encouraged to create an environment where students feel safe to express their concerns and emotions without fear of judgment. By developing practical response skills alongside knowledge, teachers can become an important source of support for students who may be going through difficult experiences.

The session also highlighted that creating a mentally healthy school environment is a shared responsibility. Small acts of listening, understanding, checking in, and responding with care can make students feel seen and supported. When teachers are equipped to recognize concerns early and approach students with empathy, schools can become safer spaces where students feel more comfortable seeking help when they need it.

A heartfelt thank you to श्री आत्मबोध माध्यमिक विद्यालय, गुल्मी for the warm hospitality, valuable collaboration, and commitment to strengthening the mental wellbeing of students and the wider school community. NSRC appreciates the teachers for their active engagement and willingness to learn, reflect, and contribute toward building safer, more supportive, and mentally healthier school environments.
