आमालाई चिट्ठी:Letters from Hearts
May 25, 2026
With the official permission and support of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, National Solution and
Research Centre (NSRC) successfully conducted the heartfelt initiative “आमालाई चिट्ठी” on 5th of
Baishak at Kathmandu Durbar Square. This special event was designed to create a safe and
emotional space where individuals could express the unspoken feelings they carry for their
mothers while also connecting those emotions to mental health and emotional well-being.
Rooted in the belief that our ability to connect, empathize, heal, and understand ourselves often
begins with the very first heart that held ours — आमा — the program encouraged participants to
reflect deeply on motherhood, memories, attachment, love, and emotional healing. Through this
initiative, NSRC aimed to highlight how emotional expression and acknowledgment of inner
feelings play a vital role in strengthening mental wellness and human connection.
The event became a powerful emotional journey where people from different generations came
together to write letters to their mothers — from children with innocent hearts to elderly
individuals carrying decades of memories and life experiences. Every letter carried emotions that
many hearts had never been able to say aloud yet had always longed to express. The letter box at
the venue quietly collected countless untold stories, gratitude, regrets, love, longing, and
appreciation for the one person who teaches the purest form of love — आमा. The atmosphere at
Kathmandu Durbar Square reflected warmth, vulnerability, connection, and humanity, reminding
everyone that regardless of age or life stage, people continue to return emotionally to the
comfort, sacrifice, and unconditional love of their mothers. The initiative beautifully connected
emotional expression with mental health awareness by encouraging participants to speak through
writing when words often feel difficult to say directly.
NSRC extends heartfelt gratitude to every participant who made “आमालाई चिट्ठी” meaningful and
memorable. Your participation inspired us to listen more deeply, understand more sincerely, and
continue working more meaningfully toward emotional well-being and compassionate
communities. The collected letters are not just pieces of paper; they are living emotions, silent
conversations, and reflections of human connection that deserve to be heard with care and
empathy. “आमालाई चिट्ठी” was not simply a program, it was a collective emotional experience that reminded everyone of the importance of expressing love, acknowledging emotions, and nurturing mental health through connection, remembrance, and compassion.
