100 Mental Health: St. John’s English School

Sept. 16, 2025

The program, held on September 16, 2025 (2082/05/31) at St. John’s English School, Sallaghari, Bhaktapur, focused on enhancing teachers’ awareness of their role in supporting students’ psychosocial well-being. A total of 16 teachers participated in the training, 15 female and 1 male. The session was facilitated by Pawan Poudel, assisted by Binita Niraula, and coordinated by the school principal, Mr. Dev Bhatta.

Activities included self-reflection exercises, a case study-based discussion, a presentation on labeling and its consequences, a writing activity about favorite students, the stone collection game, and open sharing of experiences. These activities highlighted how teachers’ words and labels can leave lasting positive or negative impacts on children’s lives. Participants reflected on the power of language, the importance of valuing individuality, and the critical role educators play in shaping students’ self-image and confidence.

By the end of the session, teachers had gained a deeper understanding of self-awareness as educators, the effects of their language and actions on children’s psychosocial well-being, and strategies to build students’ self-belief, self-esteem, and mental health. The program encouraged teachers to see their surroundings differently and to nurture the beauty of individuality in the classroom, fostering a more supportive learning environment at St. John’s English School.
