Awareness Session and Training for Principals: Budhanilkantha
May 30, 2025
On Jestha 16, 2082, National Solution and Research Centre organized a dedicated mental health awareness session at the Budhanilkantha Municipality Hall, specially designed for school principals, including vice principals, teachers, and administrative staff from various schools across the municipality.
The program aimed to raise awareness about the mental health needs of students and the vital role that school leadership plays in creating emotionally safe environments. The session included a structured questionnaire, a detailed presentation by mental health professionals, and open discussions on common psychological challenges faced by students.
Key focus areas included early identification of distress, reducing stigma within school systems, the importance of listening to students, and strategies for integrating mental health support into school practices. Facilitators also introduced simple tools and shared real-life insights from previous student sessions to help participants relate the discussions to everyday school situations.
The response from the participating educators was highly positive. Many principals and teachers expressed that they felt as if they had openly explored the connection between mental health and academic performance. They emphasized the need for more such programs and acknowledged that a better understanding of student well-being can lead to more supportive and effective educational environments.
This session marked a significant step toward building mental health-informed school leadership and set the foundation for further collaboration between NSRC and educational institutions in the area.
