The session reached a total of 186 students, with 69 from Grade 8, 58 from Grade 9, and 59 from Grade 10. It focused on teaching students how to respond effectively to stressful situations, ensuring they could recognize emotional distress and provide basic support before professional help is available.
During the session, students were introduced to the core principles of psychological first aid, such as active listening, providing comfort, and creating a safe space for individuals in distress. The session also covered practical strategies for managing overwhelming emotions and stress, helping students understand how to stay calm and offer reassurance in critical moments. Students engaged in role-playing activities that allowed them to practice these techniques in a supportive, hands-on environment.
The session was well-received, with high levels of participation and positive feedback from the students. Many expressed that the skills they learned would help them both personally and in supporting their peers during difficult times. Overall, the session successfully empowered students with the tools to respond to emotional crises and contributed to a more caring and mentally supportive school community.
